Wheels sticking out arches
I have always been running 7x15" wheels, and now have fitted some 8x13" ATS Classics. Trouble i have isthat the front wheels stickl out the arches about 1.5", and about 1" on the rear.
I got pulled over for this and issud with a probihition notice and am not legally allowed to drive the car until i correct the wheels protrution.
My argument is… how do hotrods, etc get away with it? Have i got a case to argue with the VOSA (who pulled me in)?
I dont even think GTI Arch extensions will be wide enough to cover the wheels either?!
Any advice?

If worse comes to worse, i could get some Mk1 Plastic arches, and fibreglass mould them an inch or so wider? then spray them?

the laws on vintage cars is slightly different, thats why the hot rodders do what they do and get away with it! in the USA they even run without any mud guards etc etc
VOSA are quite a powerfull organisation and they seem to be appearing more and more lately!! PG9 issueing for window tints and defects
wider arches is the only way to get around it, coz its alright to run 5 inch wider arches but not wide rims than the arch
luckily for me my 7.5 and 8j rims i just refurbed and widened sit just bang in line with my clipper arches as you look down, so hopefully they will leave me alone :dontknow: if not i will just plant drugs on them

My mate is an MOT tester, so we looked in his regulation book and it doesnt mention anything about wheels prodruding arches?! …yet the VOSA say it is not allowed. I would love the proof, or at least the statement that the VOSA go by, they must have a more in depth book of MOT regulations than a garage does.
