Oil warning light and buzzer
The good old haynes manual says :-
"On starting the engine, as soon as the oil pressure rises above 0.3 bar, the oil pressure warning light will go out. At engine speeds above 2000 rpm, the high pressure switch comes into operation and should the oil pressure drop below 1.8 bar, the oil warning light will come on and the buzzer will sound"
Ok so this is in a MK1 fitted with a G60 and MK2 16V clocks.
Everything works fine and I have a dual sender oil pressure switch connected to a 0-5 bar VDO gauge. The gauge never reads less than 1 bar and at 2000 rpm and above it reads 4 bar even when fully warmed up - so all is good !!
Ok so the problem - the oil light and warning buzzer have come on for up to 10 seconds in the following scenario:-
Drive at 70 mph for over 30 minutes, slow down to a dead stop at a junction and on a couple of occasions the the oil light and buzzer have come on for between 5 and 10 seconds.
What I don't get is that it they come on when the engine is idling and not above 2K - is Haynes correct about this ?
I have tried two pressure senders.
I have checked and double checked the wiring.
I know there is plenty of oil pressure.
I am beginning to think that it is a dash clocks fault.
Any one else experienced mysterious lighting of the oil light and buzzer ?
Cheers,
Ade

Good to hear the quotes from the Haynes manual thank you.
I have a similar problem but worse…..When the revs reach about 2000 the oil light comes on and the buzzer sounds permenantly which drives me mad.
My Mk 1 is a 1993 Rivage and i have had this problem for over a year and have had the oil pressure switch changed twice.
I f the pressure is too high or low do you know what this is caused by or how to rectify??
Thank you

Old Timer
for me, the solution was the sender on the oil filter housing.
