my car got much quicker today for a while...
i found it and reconnected it and i was back 2 normal, so i took out the airfilter and give it a quick hoover and clean up, that helped,
then disconnected the air ram at the air filter box, and that helped some more,
so im thinking of rerouting the air ram, and making an extra one to fit to the bottom of the air box, not huge but to a colder air feed, near the headlights,
and a high flow filter.
am i missing something here or is that all plausible
opinions please

that same pipe also goes to somewhere in the lower middle of the inlet manifold (the bit the throttle body joins to)
what does that pipe do?
its in next thursday,
has been stood for yr so could do with a tune methinks

the route goes airbox-rockercover-inlet manifold, i know the roccker cover one sucks air in, so does the inletmanifold one, whats it need that air supply for?

however it does imply that a secondary air intake wi filter would be a significant mod for not much wad

I dug out this video of a car having its mixture radically altered while running. You can hear the revs rise as the car leans out (the exhaust note also gets quieter) and a little bit of fuel goes in at one stage, richening it and lowering the revs (you can hear the fuel burn with a 'pop').

Dont bother with the cold air feed , these dont do anything unless 100% air tight . Just drill the box out with some 2"-3" holes in logical places on the lower air box ( you seem like a sensable fella !! ) .
I saw a mk1 recently with a cold air feed and a drilled air box , obviously the air feed wouldnt be doing any thing with all the holes in the airbox .
The air/fuel mixture will of course have an effect on the running speed of the engine , but there are of course adjustments that will effect idle and under loaded conditions.
Im afraid that i dont have any high res pics of a 1600 lump .
there is a small diaphram looking sensor on the front of the airbox , just try disconnecting that and see how it runs . let me know what happens !
Im sure a set up and rolling road will reveal a small problem in there somewhere and a few more bhp .
