What's my engine?

Hi all. Anyone have a clue what engine this is. I was told when I bought the car its a later 2.0l mk3 golf gti engine but I can't find any reference to it and the engine code is gone? Any ideas?

on the side of the engine, usually at the rear back side is a Stamp of what engine it is as in 2h 1.5D…

Over here on this side of the pond oll mk3's were EFI Digi.  

I see a lot of things that need to be tidied up in that bay.
