It was getting very close but she has an MOT and is ready for the AG :-)

Just got to run the engine in for 1000 miles now, 950 to go !!

Cheers Hugh - going to need to use her a lot in August, she is on Halford Classic Car oil to run it, never seen such a green oil !!

I have done a bare block rebuild with overbore to 1.9, new bearings, pumps, etc

The original block was bored as a racing, flat out all the time engine with 6 thou clearance - the result was a powerful unit that used too much oil, a litre every 250 miles :-(
I am a perfectionist, so it just had to be done again !!

Did you do it yourself or somewhere local, as I might need to get mine rebuilt over the winter - but keep it all standard?

Yep, all myself - well apart from the block bore, found a great little engineering shop in Stoke that do not build engines, just do the machining.

Well done on getting it sorted in time Ade, that's going to be 950 loooong miles!
