Mk1 golf cabrio

Morning all. how straight forward is it to change an automatic to a manual in a MK1 Cabriolet , does the auto engine block fit a manual gearbox or are they different, are the drive shafts the same etc etc.
Any help/advice gratefully received

yes / no.  The Axles that you have determine what cups on the transmission that you have:  IE 90mm or 100mm
It isn't that hard to swap them over I have a how do I do that .
