It looks like its gone for decent money for what it is, proving that some people still assume that buying a project is the cheaper way into ownership.

Not mint but looks as expected for a 128K miler, the usual drivers seat bolster wear, a few small dents etc, not sure what Jez means about the floor?
Body looks sound and overall a complete and unmolested base that would require more of a recommissioning and light rolling restoration whilst being able to driven, rather than spending another £8K+ on complete-disassembly-windows-out-welding-marathon spending £millions on ebay tracking down all those missing and bodged parts.

Its taken me 9 months to do mine spending an average 16 hrs per week. I also painted it in that time.
I am self employed so that helps as you can pick and chose your timings a bit but its hard graft either way. Plus the guilt knowing you should be working!!

You are never finished.
I finally finished my interior 3 years ago or so, and that is after owning it for 10 years previous.
These "Keepers" are a WIP (Work In Progress) while keeping up with the Kardashians over here is really popular, I would rather Keep Up with Maintenance. While mine aren't Garage Queens, they are Daily Driven, that is why I suspect one has about 220K and the other is at 185K.

I'll have a Mk2 Golf Gti over a tin top Mk1 Gti any day, I've had a couple of Mk2 Gti and I really should of kept my last one, 1988 small bumper, digifant, power steering, electric windows all round, central locking, only 130,000 miles, a little bit of surface rust here and there, I bought to 9 years ago for £700 with a years MOT!
Getting married and running 3 old cars something had to go…
You can't find a road worthy one for that money now a days….

I've got a mk2 Golf Syncro that gets abused as a daily during the winter. Its been a fun day today in the snow!
