Wow level of finish and attention to detail is astounding mate, going to look awesome when she's finished!!
Thanks boys

Hopefully the rebuild will be quicker than getting the shell ready

I started with the fuel tank and filler. First I put some foam between the shell and tank and tank and straps

Then cleaned any paint out of the tapped holes

Then fitted the tank, straps and filler pipe

But there's a few alignment problems:-
1. The tank outlet and the filler pipe don't line up

2. The tank strap doesn't line up with the indentations in the tank and there's a large gap at the back between the strap and tank

Could I have the wrong tank??
So I've left that for now pending investigation. So I painted the remaining suspension parts so I can start assembling that next

That's it for now.

There are a few tank pics on my thread if that helps

i also recall fitting a rubber seal around the tank too.

Do you have the metal heat shield still that fits in between the tank and straps?

Cheers. Had a look and seems to be the same tank, maybe just needs a bit of tweaking

Haven't got the heat shield, was an eBay purchase for just the tank.

Thanks for the info rubjonny. No idea where I got the fill pipe from, so could well be the cab one. I'm sure with a bit of heat and some force I can get it to work

After leaving the fuel filler hose in boiling water for 15 minutes, then grunting, groaning, swearing and ripping every muscle in my shoulder I got it, and the filler pipe, fitted

Doesn't seem to fit quite right, it has been suggested this may be a cabby pipe, but will do for now.
Flipped her over

Add the show piece
Many years ago I made a strut brace for the engine bay. I wanted it to be a true one-off, so it was sent away to a chap named broony who is a carbon wrapping God. If your not familiar with his work look at the "carbon and stuff " thread on ed38, it's incredible. And he didn't let me down

Considering the complexity of the parts shape, the finish on the carbon is faultless, and ever so shiny

After spending an hour polishing it and looking at it, I made myself do something else

Dug out some parts and started fitting

I have no thread coming through the nut to hold the wishbone mount on? Should I be using washers?

Radiator trail fitted

That's the end of this session. Next time hopefully have the front suspension complete.
