I've been on the bench watching other threads for what feels like forever, but now I am back… here are some pics of my previous mk1's
2009 -My Van 1.8 sleeper
Into 2010 - 1.5GX "Jesus Rocks"
2010 - S1 - 1979 - GLS - 16v on bike carbs
So that's the past - Feb 2014 I drove to South Wales to collect my new car a 1.5GL Gambia Red I think. The car made it back to Leicester no problem, 125 miles, 5 motorways. I have never owned a MK1 that runs properly….
Picture from the services
At home
so more updates, spec and plans will be posted over the weekend

Small world car looks good mate, whats it like all round i was tempted to buy it
No way - I am very surprised how good it is, came with spares for the known issues, loads of new parts under the bonnet.
What wasn't mentioned were things like its had a full re-spray that was detailed in the paper work dating back to 2006 The sunroof which I was a little worried about does not leak - its a tilt and slide Webasto from a mk2.
Also came with a nice Parrot head unit which is worth a couple of quid when it goes on ebay.

Quite a collection you are starting. The new one isn't Gambia red - that's a dark maroon solid colour. Looking at my 1980 brochure I think it could be Indiana Red W9 if it's metallic. Not sure if that lasted upto 82/83. Whatever it's called, nice colour though.
Cool, thanks for that. I only have the one now due to selling the rest I see you are local are there any meets in the area?

If you update your profile you can join a local group. I have the Leics/Derby/Notts one and the Staffordshire one. Between them there us usually something going on each month, plus local VW and classic shows where we meet up.
Once your profile is updated you will see the forums for both regions.
Whereabouts are you from?

A nice brown interior… I actually like now - need some brown window winders if anybody has any?
Coilovers from Hot Tuning - £150 delivered which I thought was good value
Fitted to the car after some Mr Angle Grinder action on some stubborn nuts and bolts. Need to change the rear tyres on the ATS as they are a bit 70's dragster
Next the window came out as the seal had a leak, also added chrome trim - £40 well spent on a man to do it (rather than me break the wind screen) Not rot under the old seal which a result
Everybody had gone out it was lashing it down do decided to start rubbing down my ATS classics I purchased from a guy with caddy. The rims need a refurb, 2 hours later one looks like this, loads of work still to do
Slightly off topic but I owned this for 3 days, a passing comment to my plumber 2 years ago and he rang me out the blue. I washed it, I sold it…. - I never knew T4 vans sold for such good money, Extra funds for the Mk1.
This is how she currently looks, I need to sort the ride height and get some tyres on my banded steels.
The next update will include, blowing my daily on a family holiday in Cornwall, and its replacement
