which doner car?
going to keep this short and sweet. I have searched but can not seem to get a direct answer and the more I reads the more confused I get.
I am doing a 20v conversion in the next month and I want to buy a doner car to use most parts frpom.
my question is. which 20v car is best to buy to benefit from the most parts I need to use.
I am doing a full dash conversion as well so I can use the looms ect. Will custom fit the dash so that's no worries.
Its either a mk4 golf gti or a ibibza cupra in my eyes.
Can I use the gear box out of either cars?
Simple question I hope lol
Thanks joe

ibiza is closer to a mk2 golf, generally the donor car will cost you more too. if you do end up with one its not much better for a mk1 swap really apart from it has 100mm flanges on the box, plus the shifter is slightly better fit. but the good news though if you do get a biza you have a big pile of parts which will sell to mk2 owners for good money. they will have the brembo front brakes too which i believe will fit with the mk1 280mm adaptor brackets you get, but not 100% sure.
if you plan to make your own wiring loom the MK4 based cars are easier to start with, the routing ids a great fit on a mk1 and a lot less work to strip it out as when u remove the ecu looms that all you get. with the biza its a massive lump of wiring that includes everything in the bay so lights, wipers etc. still fine to use when stripped though
