I did say it was a slow burner…
Engine has been for a full strip down and rebuild, all parts removed and inspected, any parts out of spec/worn have been replaced, the cylinder head has been skimmed, cleaned and pressure tested. Re-cut valve seats, valves r-elapped, reshimmed buckets.
New exhaust valve guides fitted, block has been deep cleaned and bores glaze busted.
Rocker cover, cam covers/pullys brackets etc sand blasted and powder coated.
New parts include..
Alternator and belt,
Standard big end bearings,
Standard main bearings,
Standard piston ring set,
Hi capacity oil pump,
Top and bottom end gasket kit,
NGK Platinum spark plugs,
Oil filter.
With the price of Mk1s going north at the moment, I am more motivated than ever to get this project over the line,
As I only paid £650 for the car all those years ago there is plenty of room to invest in it.
Hopefully updates will be more regular as i am desperate to get things moving.

It's nearly 10 years since I started this project👀
More of a dormant volcano than a slow burner.
