MY Golf GTI Slower and Slower

My name is Harry and I'm 15 and I have been looking for a mk1 golf GTI for about 6 month and found one on Friday night and picked it up on Saturday from Blackpool and towed it back to bishop.
So here goes its a mk1 golf GTI 1.8 in black.
Good points:
Very little welding
Good interior just the drivers bolster but whole thing is being retrimmed
Engine rebuild 10,000 mile ago

Bad points:
Doesn't run
Been stood for 7 years
Needs a boot, Bonnet, Wings because of surface rust
Headlights cracked

Will add photos soon

Looking at 3 grand when I'm 18 with a years no claims bonus so not too bad really

As my dad owns his own garage and I was helping out he let one of his employees have a look at it. So it turns out that I need a fuel pump and a metering head which is ordered so will hopefully find a fuel pump soon and have it running.

Thought I would just say that this is going to be a slow project as I do have 3 years to complete it.
Am interested in the following parts if anyone is getting rid
Cross hair headlights
Single lamp debugged grille
M3 style rear lights
Smoked indicators
Chrome mirrors
Black bonnet, tailgate, front wings

Will be able to buy more parts once my beetle sells

In another 3 years time it will be a lot more more than 3 grand! Still gives you plenty of  time to save up

1983 1.8 GTI (eventually paint !!!!!) yey

Today I 1st removed the immobiliser that had some dodgy looking wire connections on it and put the dash back together after finding all the parts for it. Then I tidied up the interior so that it looked better. I painted the bumpers black the way they should be and will do the arches tomorrow if I can get them off. I then found the duckbill spoiler under the back seat  :dontknow: . So it got painted gloss black and fitted it but will improve it tomorrow. Painted the grilles surround gloss red. But I will fit it when I get my new grille which I ordered today along with some smoked cross hair headlights which I bought anyway time for some pics.

After ordering my grille yesterday I decided that I best tidy up where it is going so took the old one out with the lights.
Wire brushed all the rust to get the all the loose paint off
Give it a good sand down
Put some rust stuff on 2 coats and left it to dry properly
Primed it 2 coats

Tomorrow I will wet and dry it and then I will spray some gloss black on and the lacquer it
Will post some finished pics on tomorrow

Also got my metering head today now I just need my fuel pump. And it might be running. Hopefully

Looks a great wee project, keep up the good work.

I started mucking about with cars when I was your age with an old 1200cc Vauxhall chevette, kept me out of trouble!
