The plans simple :) take the shell fit engine in the boot done ;)
Thought I would share my mk1 project from day 1 to what I hope will be the end product
Been after a mk1 for years but all the good ones hold there value well and the closest I ever got was a couple of mk3's vr6 2.0 8v
and on 1 occasion a audi 80 coupe 2.3 5 cylinder lol
But in 2012 after landing a dream job I had been pursuing for years hidden away in storage was a mk1 golf pretty much completely stripped out, I asked but it wasn't for sale

Then last November after nothing happening with the mk1 I asked again only to be told a week later the owner had no intention to do anything with it

Here's how it stood off the road since 1997

Good luck with the project mate, sounds like it's going to be a corker.

Material turned up today for the rotating spit so should have that built this weekend and hopefully mounted
Then it's zip wheel and repair time

Nice looking project, shell doesn't seem too bad, seen far worse on here

I have no idea how you'll complete your project, far too complicated for my tiny brain, but best of luck with it

The biggest challenge I have is the bodywork and electrics the rest should be a doddle

If you can I'd drop the mounting bar down about 200mm below the rotation point. My jig is like yours, but the centre of gravity isn't it the right place, and although I can spin the shell on my own, I've had a few pant destroying moments!!
Looking at the professional ones online the mount is below the pivot point.
