i was just wondering why the mk1 jetta is not allowed to be sold on the forum. it is more of a mk1 golf than a caddy or a cabby yet it gets left out in the cold.
cheers
My Golf Cabby's got Golf on the back mate.
Plenty of places to sell your car but I'm flattered you think this is a good place to try.

some have said that being in this club is snobby and elitist which is 100% correct, there are very few just one Mk only related car owners clubs out there
there are plenty of other general VW owners clubs to visit, Club GTi and Edition 38 just to name 2, i am very proud of the 2 mk1s i own and consider them far superior to any other mk of Golf or their derivatives and it is only fitting this Mk should have its very own club of which I am a proud member
I can understand why some have wanted Jetta's and sirocco's included but it would defeat the object of having a club which was formed for just the MK1 Golf.
and besides there are owners club for both the Jetta and the Sirocco out there already and the last thing i want to be doing is undermining either of these clubs by poaching their members.

i too am a multi mk1 owner and have been for a number of years just find it frustrating being alienated for having a jetta which (like i meant before) has more parts in common with the ORIGINAL mk1 than cabbys or caddys.
when i first heard about this site it was campaign gtis only and it has progressed with the times so maybe it should continue on?

the caddy has been included but on limited terms.and after great debate and a line there after was drawn in the sand.
as for the cabby like Tian says it says Golf on the back, and from the front the caddy, cabby and golf ALL look the same the jetta can be spotted as different at 500 paces

really?? all the jetta sites i have been on allow you to advertise any car providing it is vw. same goes for the caddy forum and all the other vw specific forums ive come across.A5OPY said
This debate crops up every few months or so and due to the reasons i have stated before the jetta have not been included, the Jetta has its own club and i know for a fact if i wanted to join and have the same rights on their site with my Mk1 Golf they would show me the door and rightly so
is there a reason that you will only allow the sale of mk1s? strikes me that alot of mk1 owners are into the mk1 vw genre rather than just the golf.

Its a bit of a pointless exercise debating this issue as it was only at the end of last year that we went through it then.
As the Chairman has said, its a Mk1 Golf site and its staying that way….. for now!

think its more between the caddy and the jetta, the caddy has allways been a popular model but now the jetta is gaining popularity, shame to exclude it. How many caddys and jettas were made :dontknow:

not caddy jetta,or rocco owners club, but that is my view. We will water it down so much and it will just be vw owners club, :dontknow:

As regards the Caddy debate (a copy and paste from Dictionary.com :
1. Golf. a person hired to carry a player's clubs, find the ball, etc.
So we need Caddys to carry the club and find our balls

just done a search like you said and couldnt find the topics about not advertising them. what i did find is lots of topics about jettas in all the other sections so surely if you are purists these should all be deleted as this is a mk1 GOLF only club?
the last debate was brought up in the club business section where a vote was taken place..
the question asked was… Should Jettas and Caddys be allowed in the club as full members?
the voting took place and from what i can see ti could still be open..
but the results to the questions was a 60% majority in favour of allowing Jett'as from the clubs members..
YES - its still a mk1, allow them in and stop being so silly.
60%
60% [ 27 ]
NO - its not a proper mk1, keep them out and keep the club pure.
40%
40% [ 18 ]

I have debated this so many times and can see from both sides..

Ultimately I've joined and left loads of forums, no big deal so if you don't like it here the internet is brimming with options, we all need to find our own niche.
