Is it bad I'm starting to resent my golf?
Cam belt
Brake disks and pads
Clutch
Gear linkage
Gear box
All the braided cables that deal with induction…the air pipes
Bought a new choke cable just need to fit it
Steering rack gaitors
Handbrake
In total iv spent almost a grand in the last month fixing this car…
The point was to have a original mk1 golf and keep it that way but the way it's going it seems like itl be completely different by the end of it all :/ I originally wanted to modify the engine and have a sport little cabby but it seems that is very difficult to do and would just ruin it but even for a 1.8 it seems sluggish :/
I had troubles with the car stalling every time I went off the throttle and onto the brakes and clutch and I thought it was because of the air line cables been frayed so I replaced them.. The cars run fine all day but then this afternoon it just started doing it again and was really struggling to keep the revs up and constantly stalled what else could this be caused by? My choke cable is not working at the moment and after playing around with the actually choke lever it seems to work again but the lever always falls into the same position I'm really Confused and am starting to wonder if I can really afford this car..
If anyone has any advice on the stalling or words of wisdom to keep me going would be grateful

If you spent 2k then it would be different.
Just fix what needs fixing and enjoy it.

I have given up on thinking logically about my Clipper. I just fix and improve as and when I can afford it. I've had 4 x MK 1's and I just can't stay away from them!

Some people go out and spend a few grand or more on a good mk1 for a reason; they are in good nick and ready to go. But if you are shopping in the bargain basement then don't expect miracles!
For 200 I think you got a bargain, so keep going, and once she is road worthy and running properly you will love her/it/him

I've just swapped from Pierburg to Weber and the difference is unreal - the car is a totlly different animal, it's well worth doing.
Six foot eleven of total idiot.
