Yeah, I would like to lower it asap but I am restricted by funds.. Mainly as I dont want to spend half the money on shodddy coilovers with a horrible ride when I can wait and get a good set.

But… one of the smaller ones powder coat is chipped on the rim which I am almost crying about as I've waited so long!!! Anyway I've contacted banded steels to see if they will remedy the problem (guess it needs blasting and re-coating) which fingers crossed they will as after paying to get them banded and coated, receiving a damaged rim that will rust as soon as its on the car is heartbreaking.
Anyway here's some pictures of what they look like compared to what they used to look like, with centre caps and also one with the flush valves I will be fitting. I wont be buying/fitting the tyres until they are sorted as I may have to re-powder coat them all as I don't know the RAL colour :dontknow:
They are a very nice gunmetal grey with subtle metal flake which does look nice if a little darker than I expected but will look stunning on the car (I hope)

Bandedsteels have allowed me to return the damaged wheel for it to be blasted and re-powder coated.. I can't wait to finally get them on the car! (I hope it won't be another 6ish weeks until I get it back though)
Also posted up for some help in the technical section about tyres. Im thinking 215/45/15 front and rear so the fronts get a good amount of rubber on tarmac and the rears are a little stretched (Fronts 7.5j Rears 8.5j) Opinions? The current alloys are 195/45/15 with a little stretch.
Anyway, as previously mentioned I bought a chrome rocker cover a week or so ago and it arrived today!
After giving the car a wash it didn't take long to take the old rocker off and put this one on. Its from a Golf Rallye G60 rather than a Corrado so they vary slightly in their design as you can see in the pictures, I think I prefer the Golf style with the sunken oil filler cap.
My sisters friend popped round while I was fitting and said he had some shiny titanium nuts that he had two sets of from his mk2 so I will be swapping the old nuts for those and also my gold filler cap should arrive from Germany soon to pimp it slightly more.
Heres a couple of pics after I cleaned it and it just started raining Just remembered I also replaced the old aerial with a chrome tipped bee sting one as it was falling apart.

Really would like to cover the cost of fitting new Toyo Proxes T1-Rs to the steels by selling them. Think I am going to go with 205/45/15's front and rear as 215 might be a little overkill on the 7.5j fronts

Anyway, a little update: I have sourced a set of FK Silverline Coilovers, full chrome bumper kit, New smoked indicators for the chrome bumpers, New Febi top mounts and spacers etc. as well as the stoppers to block the bumper holes when I remove them.
I am picking up the new chrome bumpers and coilovers Saturday (Cheers Jon if you read this!) and am hoping the other bits get delivered by then so I can fit it all up and get the coilovers seated ready for the steels and then a nice drop all round!

The car came with the wide arches so I didn't really have much choice, but when I went to view it I saw its potential.. Hopefully all the bits come this weekend so I can fit the new small chrome bumpers and coilovers so it looks even meaner.

FK Silverline coilovers and new chrome bumpers are fitted!
Coilovers were tricky as after my last set of photos where I fitted one of the steels I managed to 'misplace' my locking wheel nut key.. Could't find it anywhere so bought a removal set from Halfords, turns out they don't remove the type with the spinning band!
So, I had to sand out a socket, sand down the edge either side and then cut a slot down it, chip off the spinning ring and hammer the socket on.. at which point I could undo them. Thing is you can only do it with the socket once as it cracks after that so had to do it 3 times!! (other one was loose from fitting the steel before)
Anyway, finally got it all done and have left 2cm gap, tyre to arch, over the rears and 1.5cm over the fronts to allow the springs to bed in a little and then I will wind them down a bit more when I have my steels (still waiting for the one I sent back to be returned!!) Just to note there are numerous speed bumps which are unavoidable to me so cant go too low.
Also found the car a little jittery sometimes when driving which I put down to the power.. Turns out whoever fitted the previous springs/shocks didn't bother setting the camber so one side was -1.54 deg and the other -2.86! So both are now set (-.6) which should be a lot better with putting the power down and handling. Still need to adjust the brake bias and then get the tracking done but will wait for the steels for that.
Here's some new photos for you to enjoy

Fitted new sun roof seal (pain in the A that was) and have now finally got my repaired steel back! Surprisingly it seems when they put their mind to it they can have the wheel blasted, recoated and sealed without carelessly throwing it around and damaging the finish (Sorry to be bitter but I have been waiting since November to have the full set)
Anyway, I have a set of Toyo Proxes T1Rs to be fitted Saturday morning and then can finally get them on the car!
On another note I took the Golf up to Prept last night and got a lot of attention, also it's the first time I have had a proper run in the car since its been lowered. During the drive back we discovered that when turning left the front tyres are catching on the lip of the wide arches which I will be rolling up to give clearance (No idea why they were left like this in the first place but a lot of the car has been like that.. ). This is the only rubbing so once rolled up I should be good to go with the steelies at the height im at, no speed bump issues either thankfully!
I will post up some pictures this weekend and the alloys will be put up for sale. Also fitted some black repeaters on the front wings, a blue 'G60' badge on the glove box lid and a polished fuel filler cap this week.
