1981 mk1 golf c overhaul
love that you just stripped your engine, the car's a shell, and in your big pile of new parts, you've got a head unit and gearknob!!!
that's ambition!
love it, you're putting me to shame.

went up with a massive list to do tonight n eneded up doing nothing apart from mending the hole in my sill … lots of grinding back to do now but at least its solid woo

some back ground on "the hole"
looked like this when i got it

on grinding it back i discovered it looked like this

which made this

Welded a small plate in but the surrounding metal was like tin foil
started grinding it back last night and jusy started going through so thought sod it all do it properly
crappy iphone pics coming up
after grinding back

taken back to decent metal

ouch thats a big hole
then 3 hours of messing with sheet metal, body work hammers and lots of swearing an d throwing tool about, id managed to fabricate a decent enough peice…
still required some tweeking but it was getting late

im proud of that

direct fit into the standard gti centre console

prepping for paint has now started

came in on moday and a door had magic'd its self onto the car… i was very impressed the car has started putting itself back together haha!

the old one was rotten at the botton and this one is better so christopher decided to fit it for me

after lots of sanding

the door has for some reason been half sprayed in white … i was a little worried it was covering some rust of dodgey repair up but nope… all sanded back fine

wow you can see how much dust there is… i finally invested in a face mask after coughing up god knows how much crap. cant be healthy
The other side

This was the roof!
yummy… not been washed in years and by the looks of it never polished haha

SAND SAND SAND
velvet looking roof

and the workshop doodle pad

couple more essential bay pics… almost 100% there now
