Very slow to no turnover

Ok, my engine is back in  but it won't fire up It turns very slowly until, what feels like, the battery is running out. Tried a new battery with the same results.

The starter gets warm and so does the earth/negative to the battery.

Have replaced everything, clutch, fuel pump etc except for the starter motor which worked before taking it off the road.

I've ordered a new one anyway but wondered if it could be something else?

Time is running out as it should be going to GTi International 

It could be the wires from battery to starter, including the engine earth strap. 2 minutes with a multimeter to measure various voltage drops would confirm.

It was the starter motor  

Picked up a remanufactured BOSCH one from GSF today - £99 well spent!
