mk2 GTI 16v part number of 357 612 107A
mk2 GTI 8v part number of 192 612 105E.
and the reply was by Rubjony
no difference in those servos, just the 357 part number replaces the 192 part number. all 1.8 mk2s had the same 9" servo, 1.3-1.6 have smaller 7". also diesel and autos got the 9"
so ya, fit the 22mc to your old gti servo and jobs a goodun
all i need to know now is how do i know what a 22mm MC looks like?
and can i use one from a mk3 GTi?

IIRC, a mk3 cylinder can only be used with a mk3 servo because of the rod lengths. Happy to be proved wrong!

id just try it first though, see if there is any noticeable flex compared to the mk1 unit. after all if its ok on a mk3 i dont see why it wont be on a mk1!

the mc is 23mm but only has 2 m12 ports. also it is made of alloy
it will fit on the mk2 9" servo and is exactly the same size as the 22mm mc and uses the same reservoir
i didnt have any problems with the servo only having 2 bolts. i dont think it will have any more force on it than when in the mk3
as said before the rod on the servo needs cutting and threading but the thread needs to be m10 and the rod is about 12mm thick so it needs to be ground to a shoulder
i am now using a 25mm mc from a van on the 9" servo as this has the same size m10 ports as the mk1/2 golfs and has 4 ports
this one

I didn't know I needed a bigger servo, the current servo looks fairly snug in there but I reckon if I grind away some of the servo bracket where it meets the chassis leg I could fit a 9 inch one.
I'm breaking a 1.9D Vento non abs at the moment, does anyone know if these had a 9 inch servo, I'm not near it at the minute so I can't measure it.
