Golf MK1 GENESIS

OK briefly let me explain.

Used to sell VW/Audio many, many years ago.
For 25 years, always wanted a MK1 Cabrio in white.
Bought one last year.

Now here it comes, I've been a Genesis fan for close to 40 years. Concerts, clothing,  memorabilia, you name it and I have some really rare items.
But a 'Golf MK1 Genesis' was completely new to me until about 3 months ago when searching for parts on Ebay.

So all I know is, produced 1992, screaming  paint job and interior. (see Genesis version of the 'Scream' live, outstanding).

Guess you had to be there, I was!

Does anyone have the definitive Info on the Model.
How many produced, the full spec and any other interesting tip bits about it?

Because to be honest, hate the color scheme but I'd sell my soul to own one. cf_emoticons__BangHead:.

On the occasion of the European tour group "Genesis", VW produced the Genesis, this incidently celebrated 25 years of the group Genesis being together.

Special colour: Violet-Touch Pearl paint.
BBS alloy wheels 15 "with tires 195/50,
Four headlight grille.
Colour coded body kit, mirror covers etc.
Black "VW" grille badge.
Black hood and tonnuea cover.

"Genesis" decal on rear quarters and bonnet.

Interior:

specific upholstery fabric "Sound" black colored patterns with matching door cards.

Height-adjustable sport seats, headrests with"Genesis"logo.

Audio system with radio-cassette "Gamma" and 8x20W
    
"Genesis Sound" logo on the radio fascia.
 Specific "Genesis" Keychain
 Black and purple, floormats
 Three-spoke leather-wrapped,sport steering wheel
 Leather-wrapped Gear knob and gaiter.


Engine:
1.8: 1781 cm3 - 98 hp at 5400 rev / min - 142 Nm at 3000 r / min - 9 hp (France) - 5 or bvm bva - 166 km / h - 1015 kg.













  
   
   

Power hood and windows me thinks too.

Can't say I've ever heard of it tbh! Just googled and seen a pic of it, metallic purple with a Genesis sticker on the side.

Do you know how many were made?

Not sure, very limited numbers.
These were presented to the new owners at the actual Gig. Just  cannot remember where I read this.
Iirc low number about 150?
Read somewhere that they came with tickets for the gig?
Damn I have all this info in my head just cannot pla e where I read this.
Maybe Wikipedia or something like that. They did a rolling stones one also.

may 2012 car of the month was a genesis, so there at least 1 on the road !

love the interior  

These were a European model. So left hookers.
The interior is busy, but I like the colour.
Will see if I can recall where I learnt the info I put before.

Ok from research VW collaborated or sponsored rock tours around the 90's. The Genesis being a MK1 base.
Bon Jovi, rolling stones Pink floyd. These were on the MK3 base.
VW did a tin top version too

That interior is terrible

Looks good in purple though.

That's what I'm wondering, just what sort of money these are going for?

Chortle thinks there were about 150 LHD.
