How would I go about converting from brake drums to discs:
heres one option
http://www.clubgti.com…m/showthread.php?t=177988
or you can go with mk2 carriers and either mk2, mk3, or mk4 golf calipers
i would go for mk4
it is also neccesary to get some sort of brake compensator valve or the back wheels will just lock up

mk2 rear brake pressure regulator for disc conversion?
I am just in the process of sorting the brake lines for my mk1 golf with mk4 disc conversion on the rear, I know that I need a rear pressure regulator or compensator valve. I already have a mk2 gti pressure regulator from a rear axle I brought and am thinking about just fitting this. Has anybody used a mk2 regulator or has any info on the fitting and performance?
Cheers

Did you use the original brake compensator valve, if so what colour green did you paint, if not where did you buy?
Hi, It is the original one, I didn't paint it green though, it's painted in satin black!
Just had a look back through the photos and it does look fairly green doesn't it! I think it's just the poor lighting under the car. The brake lines are green though, if that's what you meant?
I used the Halfords VHT satin black engine enamel which I had left over from the engine bits I painted. I dislike Halfords alot but to be fair, their vht paint is cheap enough, available in abundance and pretty hard wearing too!

Mk1 G60 build up number 2:
been nearly a year since I lasted updated this
few snaps iv'e had it at work for last week trying to sort the brakes out as the drivers rear has no fluid coming through it i'm thinking its the compensator valve so have bought some cabby regulators and doing away with it.
new boost gauge

Help with bleeding new brake setup!:
agree with mcfudge, the rear load compensator valve needs to be held open when the rear beam is hanging
down, but if you are getting fluid at the caliper you've probably done this.
