cheers fella's

still got some work to do in replacing the wings at each corner - where it mounts to the inner wings - but pleased how its coming along.

was thinking of buying  the section - but i only need a small area

found abit more rust on the internal of the drivers a pillar so will be cutting that back and making good

Atleast if you do it now you won't need to worry for a few years then.

slow mate

really slow

started getting some bits sorted for the engine - 16v cambelt etc so i can start on the engine mounts

need to get some repair sections from donor car - maybe try crazy quiffs

had to chop back the outer skin of the A  piller to tackle a small rust spot

and started mocking stuff up for the pedal box etc

proper update soon ish - if i can get into the garage + maybe take some pics

keeping it real with no heaters in the garage - a sign of respect to all the driveway mechanics  8)

I hear ya, i cant get motivated to go out and do in the cold, by the time you had a brew or 2 and looked at the job ahead, you think, it can/will wait till tomorrow..lol

Much respect for no heaters when you could have em.

Pics soon…

had a good go at the car last night

got the first set of mounts tacked in for the pedal box - will require some further bracing but atleast they are sat in the right position.

fabbed up a drivers side mount for the ?12 - laser cut plate and some box section etc

had a couple of hours left so i ripped out the rear panel - not too bad a job but the rust monster had visited the chassis legs so at the towing eye - so that wll need some work - time to tip the car on its side again i think

will post some pics up tonight

just waiting on panels from rich @ crazy quiff's VAG rear panel and a scuttle to butcher to finihs fixing mine

hopefully got a Gearbox on the way 02J - will hit 70 in 2nd - which should be entertaining

anymore info on this box? i'm looking at a CTN code O2A box for my G60

assuming a 6200rpm limit

Engine speeds in top gear:-
30 MPH = 1061 RPM 40 MPH = 1415 RPM 50 MPH = 1768 RPM 60 MPH = 2122 RPM
70 MPH = 2476 RPM 80 MPH = 2829 RPM 90 MPH = 3183 RPM 100 MPH = 3537 RPM

Top Speed in 1 gear = 35.061 MPH
And changes into 2 gear at 3475 RPM dropping 2725 RPM
Top Speed in 2 gear = 62.550 MPH
And changes into 3 gear at 3982 RPM dropping 2218 RPM
Top Speed in 3 gear = 97.393 MPH
And changes into 4 gear at 4428 RPM dropping 1772 RPM
Top Speed in 4 gear = 136.355 MPH
And changes into 5 gear at 4823 RPM dropping 1377 RPM
Top Speed in 5 gear = 175.298 MPH

its an EVS code 02J

3.30 1.94 1.31 1.03 and 0.84 FD 3.68 7000rpm rev limit

1st Gear = 41.58 mph
2nd Gear = 70.74 mph
3rd Gear = 104.76 mph
4th Gear = 133.24 mph
5th Gear = 163.37 mph

think at 163 mph the roof would peel off -  8O

CTN box is a good choice - grab it quick - lot of folk are now after them

will get some pics up soon

Post

with a rev limit of 7000 the CTN would see

1st gear - 39.585
2nd gear - 70.62
3rd gear - 109.95
4th gear - 153.95
5th gear - 197.91

is the EVS a diesel box as well?

1st and 2nd are very close on the two boxes, but then in 3rd the CTN seems to take over.

both boxes should make for a good comparison on the strip if you were ever to race? (260-270bhp G60)

good luck with the build by the way!

the EVS box is out of a later mk4 20v ( fbw thottle)

want to sort out MS / emerald with some launch control

ctn is a good choice but depends what you want to do with the car really

would be too long on a track car i reckon but good for a road car

panels have arrived  :D

small issue with the scuttle - but rich is sorting it - top bloke

pictures up on sunday

quick update with some photo's

got the scuttle finished up and cleaned out all the rust

whilst it was off it would be rude not to have smoothed out a few bits and pieces - bump near passender window etc

scuttle has been welded back in - using original spot weld drill marks to align everything

pedal box mounts tacked in - will be braced to the front section of the bulkhead and up to the cage dash bar to stop it flexing the bulkhead

wanted to keep it in sheet metal and not huge lumps of box section etc

quick photo of the rear panel removed - came out pretty easily - K33ts guide was really helpful - cheers fella

got a new VAG panel to go back in - might need to get a new wheel well too - or get my own laser cut

fab'd up an engine mount - laser cut 6mm plate - needs a quick tidy up

mount is sat as low as possible on the plate - so have gained about 20mm lift on the engine - help with sump clearance

should hopefully get started on the gearbox mount this week and get the engine in the bay - to start mocking some more bits up

I'm with you there although mine is not so tidy, but whilst I'm still grinding bits off I'll put up with a little mess!
