I've always wondered and while we're on topic, my golf's a D reg, does that meant if I was change my reg, becuse I can't make it any new than it already is it has to start with either A,B,C or D?

Basically yes. You can use an older plate, eg one with a suffix (not prefix), or an pre-1963 plate, ie 123ABC or ABC123. Or an undated Northern Ireland plate.

Well I got a Sportline (replica) which you wouldn't know unless you look at the reg being a D.

It's in better condition than most sportlines about, I dunno the history of it but it looks just someone swapped everything from one car into another.

I mean I'd never sell it as a sportline, I'd never actually sell it telling the truth, but it's just a little niggle.

I don't have 8k anyways
