'79 GTi #1

Manufactured in June 1979 and first registered on the 5th September 1979, YFB 292V was first purchased from Normands Volkswagen dealer in Bristol just weeks after the first official right hand drive GTi was imported from Germany. To date YFB 292V has only covered a genuine 80 000 miles (backed up by VW service history / MOTs) ? that is an average of just over 2,750 miles a year.

YFB?s main original standard features that distinguish this model include:
- Small, early-type rear lights and no fog lamps
- Round, inset instruments in early-type dashboard
- Centre console fitted with oil temperature gauge and clock
- ?Wolfsburg? 3-spoke steering wheel
- No radio fitted!
- Non-interior adjustable wing mirror fitted to driver?s side only
- Black tartan check seat trim, seats fitted with oval headrests
- ?Buckle-less? type front seat belts
- ?Flock? early-type carpets
- 1588cc EG engine with 4-speed gearbox (60 mph in second gear!)
- Contact breaker ignition points (no electronic ignition module)
- Radiator with integral expansion tank
- Brake lines run inside car, fuel lines run along sill
- Flat-type slam panel and unique radiator mounting
- Tailgate with 3 small apertures
- Tool kit with protective material and bag bound by elastic band
- Early type VIN plate showing Model Year Code ?9? for vehicles built from August 1978 to July 1979
- Original running-in period warning sticker on the windscreen!

Factory Option:
- 12-spoke alloy wheels

Accessory:
- ?Wolfsburg? rear mudflaps

That is  8)  mine was same year and spec but built May 79, COA 330V, it came from "Contim motors" dealership

i so so so so regret letting it go now :cry: it needed some sill work and a but of frone inner arch repair but it was really solid little car and all there
