Yeh there such lovely cars to drive it never fails to put a smile on my face but being 25 years old theres always a few little problems that need sorting out!

When i take it off the road ill be completely stripping it and buying all new bodywork parts and having a full respray done. Also either rebuilding the 8v engine or going for a 2.0 16v conversion. And generally replacing or refurbing all the parts as i go. Lots of work but it would deffinetly be worth it :)

As some of you no I've had lots of problems with my car lately!

I've just forked out lots of cash but I've sorted out all the little problems and its now running and driving how it should be.

I've had a whole new steering rack, wheel bearings, brake pipes, cambelt, tie rods, oil leak sorted etc.

Anywhow i picked it up yesterday and wound the coilies back down and put my wheels back on and de wipered the rear.

Its sitting lower than before cant go any lower 8-)

Well its come to that time! The mk1's coming off the road as of today. Just had my last drive home from work in it now :(

Got a quote for the respray so i can start striping it now. Im gonna try and do as much of the work as i can myself.

Ive taken off the wheels an sold them on, was expecting to find rusty old arches but there not that bad! Bonus!

Worse one.

Poke.

Still not sure what to do engine wise but ive got a while to think about that.

Im off to pick up my new daily now B) Its an auto  :o   :P   8)

The car looks awsome from standard to that. Im new to all this so going to ask a few questions as you done actactly what i want to do. So sorry if the are easy answers and so fourth.

How much have you lowerd the car as im looking to get 14s.

Also the tyres where about do you go to get them, so they have the little bulge that sticks outer the arch??

Last but not least, the roll of the arches i heard so many people on about this everywhere. Whats it for and do you have a specialised to do it.

Sorry about the questions but really want to get to know as im getting my first MK1 this weekend so not to clear on it all. And saves putting a new post.

But the car looks awsome i must say.

Im not that knowlegeable myself mate but ill try and answer your questions.

The cars lowered about 100mm well it was till i raised it to do all this work.

I got my tyres online from a place called mytyres lol. I always use them and there really good. The bulge is a bit of stretch from fitting 195/45/14 tyres to 8x14 wheels.

Arch rolling is where you roll the lip on the inside of the arch to stop it rubbing on the wider than standard wheels/tyres when you lower your car.

Hope that helps bud :)

I thought id find all sorts of rust but so far its all good :-)

Well thats the lot. Still got half the interior to do and a few more bits outside.

Just gathering parts I'm gonna need and labelling everything i take off.

Hopefully it will be in the bodyshop in about a month 8-)

Well havent updated this for a while, nothing really exciting has happened with it lately like most people have prob found when taking your car off the road its hard to get time and money to actually get anyhting done on it and feel like your getting anywhere!

Most of the car is stripped now, i just need to take the windows out. I tried getting the front wings off today got all the bolts out that i could see but apparently theres 2 other hidden ones. Can anyone tell me where these are?

Its in a sorry state but i guess its gotta get worse before it gets better yeh? Hope so! Ive commited to it now and theres no turning back.

Hope to have the new wheels in a month and then its bodyshop time :D

The jetta has just failed its mot so im trying to get that sorted, got some coillies for it aswell cause the anti stance was just making me depressed

So the jetta will be on its belly by next week ill put some pics up.

All the best mk1 projects take time

Sound progress, just got to keep plodding through :D  You'll soon be stoked when it's in the bodyshop.

The wings are bolted to the inner wing under the A pillar running downwards, (about 3 or 4 bolts i think) and one at the very bottom near the front of the sill, as well as the others which i guess you've already found. I ended up setting fire to the sealer here in the end  8O

Jetta looks cool, just need to slam it on collies on the RSL's!

The car looked awsome before you stripped it mate. I have a standard black campaign except the wheels and i cant believe the difference taking off the grey stripe down the side. Was it wasy to take off and how did you do it without ripping the paint off?

Heres a pic of my mk1 gti campaign.
