looks very clean, and not too high priced if you consider what it is, dont like the BBS kit personally but i could live with it as its "original"

The BBS kit is oh-so 1980s, so I don't think it adds or takes away but I'd prefer it without. The rubber hatch spoiler is cr P , I had one on a Driver years ago and the single tailgate strut struggles to hold the tailgate open with the extra weight, and it looks poo too.

You can spend more than the starting price doing a good restoration but a few weeks ago a dealer had a very good one for about the same price so its a bit stiff for a private sale. Not sure he'll get it so near xmas etc

I agree Paul!
I think that is well cheaky!! As the new owner you have the rights to do what you want.
Does he want to sell it or not????

BBS kit sucks - in my opinion too.

  the comment about modding it is a little cheeky i must say….if your crossing someones palm with that much if i wanna take it banger racing as the new keeper who is gonna stop me

The add has been put in the for sale section on here now too…and with my eagle eye i noticed it has a 1600 version back box on it too…….so its not 100% standard anyway

Nice car though, but too much $ for an everyday practical car for me…its too nice to leave in car parks at shopping centres!!!

Guys just to put everyone?s mind at rest this is not a scam but a genuine sale from a genuine seller. I don?t like to get involved in nit picking on cars for sale especially when they belong to fellow club members so I will leave it at that. Good luck with the sale and merry Christmas all.

I'm not having a go at the seller if genuine. I know how hard it is sell with all the time wasters, after selling my Golf (gutted) I was pointing out that the seller is useing the same pitures the last seller used on E-bay and people on here have been caught out in the past.

Anyway good luck with sale and I hope you don't get as many time wasters as I did asking to send more pitures and how much for cash without comimg to look at the golf. (rant over)

This isn't a For Sale post so nobody's taking away anything from the seller or his car. We are just expressing opinions on a Forum which is the name of the game, isn't it?

Yes, you're free to discuss/debate things such as this, so long as its not deeply offensive.

It was for sale last year and Illyun bought the car and made no secret of it on this forum - seem to remember he paid 6k. Not sure how that or re-using the previous pics makes it a scam :dontknow:

I'd be more worried about the V5 not being in his name. In theory, its not his to sell, you'd need at least the signature from the previous owner, to be sure you will be able to register it under your own name once bought. I see the idea of keeping the number of owners down but its not exactly honest - it will have one more owner than the V5 says.

Pics are okay to reuse if the car is more/less as it was before. Who spends ?6000 on a car and doesn't go to see it before they put their money on it? If it was bought by looking at the pics, and not seen in the flesh, then there is a possibility of comeback off it (but this is unlikely given the expected price).

Seems a funny time to sell, it would probably make ?1000 more in March. I expect it will remain unsold until then, the 'high value' Mk1s never seem to find buyers that quick. There's probably a ceiling of around ?2500-3000 then you're into a very specialist audience, of collectors and rich enthusiasts.

Do you? I got a V5 when I bought my 1.1 a couple of years ago, by simply going into a DVLA office and paying for one. I'd sent the change of ownership off, but it got lost in the post and simply went to the DVLA gave them reg etc, paid ?18 and got the V5 in my name.

Cheers
