Peugeot 306 1.9 TD

triple post was an accident. all been said really. dturbo is better than the hdi (or am i making it up too?). good ride and handling and good economy. yes it's french, yes bits can fall off, but does an escort or astra stay together for ever? the french are good with diesels. go to france and probably 70% plus are oil burners. surprised bert hasn't moved there.
vivs le diesel a le bert!

Cheers for your honesty matti!

Yeah, thing is it just ticks all the boxes for me. Even if I just have it for a year or two.

I know it wont be as much fun to drive as the mk1 but im using it every single day, fun is all well and good when u can have it as your second car like alot of people on here do. Just cruising around everynow and again having it as a little project.

I cant afford to run it 24/7

No worries Arron, I forgot to mention that it is qute fun to drive too. You can chuck em around corners nicely, handles pretty well. Just a different way of driving, after a nice light Golf every thing feels well heavy (clutch etc), but you learn to drive differently and then it's fun. OK, I've said too much now, I'm off to find a hole to hide in…

Insurance is group 5, ie cheap. Same price as Golf on road tax if you have the 1.8 Golf (assuming 306 is pre-2001). In fact, do you want to buy mine? Lovely motor, only 120k miles. 1 careful owner (the person that first bought it).
