mini owners/enthusiasts
Any mini owners/enthusiasts know of good forums like this dedicated to the mini? I am looking for my first Resto job - I wanna strip a mini and see if I'm any good at making dreams come true.
Obviously, a forum like this would be fantastic - and would make any resto job immediately half as difficult.
Before anyone asks, the reason I'm not restoring my cab…is because the Dreamboat's perfec'!! (and i'm scared I don't do a good job/finish etc. plus it cost a bit much to take apart with little idea what I'm up to)
Looking for a decent mini (pref. clubman) under ?500 that has a solid shell and is ready to be made beautiful.
Thanks in advance for any advice. Ebay has lots, but lack knowledge and faith to buy from there(in saying that, the Dreamboat came from Ebay)

don't really fancy a convertible to be honest, but where are you and how much are you after?
Thanks everyone who replied apart from bigspiv.

I scrapped an early Mini Innocent in the late 1980?s because the rear brake cables needed renewing. It was only after bumping into a mini enthusiast many years later that I found out I had scrapped a rare imported Innocent cooper which was worth ?6000. I remember it well, it had dials in Italian, lesson learnt.

I wouldn't worry lhasa. If we could go back 20yrs we'd all be pulling gems out of the scrapyards. Have you seen how much Mk1 and 2 Escorts are going for nowadays ? Every other car in the scrapyard was an Escort not so long ago.

Yes I agree, at one time mk1 escorts were going for peanuts, now if you've got a mexico or RS mk1 escort it's worth a lot of money. Shame the same rule does not to the mk1 Golf.

I'm the same as you M7R, I was a big fan of mini's…got through about 20 of them between me and my brother.
I have a shed full of mini bits from when we had them, we used to go knocking on doors were they had abandoned ones on the drive and take them away for next to nothing, just to strip or the good bits.
My mam used to get well pi$$ed off when we'd come home pushing another mini up the street.
Here's a pic of my pick up…. it's been in that sorry state for about 5 years now ops:…since the VW bug bit me!
Brothers old mini van:
and his old GRP mini minus which now lives in Perth, Australia and has an R1 engine in the back
So once your sorted with a clubman WeeTony, give me a shout if you need any parts and I'll see what I've got (definately got a good bonnet, quite a few clubby grilles and NOS headlight mounting panels)
Cheers,
Gav

Here's one of my old MK1 Minis - It was blue when I owned it!
This is at Classic Motor Show a couple of years back, happened to walk past the stand and there it was.
Really miss it
