My Resto 1982.... ENGINE START! With video!

You'll need to cut and access hole above - chisel or drill the old stud out and weld in a new one - will be fine.

Cheers

Thanks mate

I chisled, drilled and angle grinded the stud out. Abit of a mess now tbh.
Went mole vally and bought a welder to weld in a new bolt.
The welder is very shit. Havnt had much time to fiddle with the seetings on it as i had to go to work.
Hopefully will be magicly better when i attept it again.

Luke

Good welding is all about setting the tool up properly for the job in question - so called "speeds and feeds".

There's lots of advice on the Mig Welding Forum, but a useful tip is to find some scrap metal of a similar size and thickness and practice on that before you do the car.

Fixed my sheerd bolt on the rear axle mount today.
Made abit of a hash of getting the old bolt out but welded in a new plate and a new bolt. Doesnt look to bad i think.

And then i set about fixing the hole in the top which i cut for access to the bolt.

Will finished it up tomoro when the light returns.

Make a stand for the shell today. Still need to add some bars on the side to make it flipable, so can work on bottom.

That was hard work.

Notice the split screen van in the background (my neighbours)
Very nice.

Hmmmmm
I cant deside weather to have no bumpers on my mk1 or the plastic ones like its suposed to have.
And if i have no bumpers i can deside if i should smooth off the holes.

Anybody got any pics of both so i can make up my mind?
Thanks

Not bad for a days work.

I have done like absolutly nothing.
Im trying to get my mk2 golf back on the road cuz my bmw keeps breaking down.
So have no time at all along with work and uni.

Bought these the other day and just got the tyres removed.

Took the Bolts out of of one of them but cant prise the lip off.
Gunna get the centers powder coated, dunno what colour yet. and gunna get chrome 2.5 inch dishes and chrome bolts.

Anybody got any tips to get the lips off?

Cheers

tried heating them a little, maybe with very hot water in a bath tub. so you can dunk just the rim and not the centre.
just a thought.
