My Resto 1982.... New engine start videos.

This is the second time i had have to type all this post out as i accidently crossed it off grrrr. The annoyance!

Im completely restoring my 1982 golf gti that i bought a few monthes back from a man on ebay for ?75! Very very good buy! But it may not seem it from the pictures that follow.
Its all pritty solid. apart from the front and rear valances and thats it.
The man bought it to restore but never had time, he bought it in the same state that i got it and its just been sat on his driveway being neglected.

Plus i dislike bodywork and thats what im doing first.

dossent look bad atall for 75 notes mate ill keep an eye out for this resto and trust me that rear arch repair looks alot better then what mine is as mine dosent line up atall so both rear arches might have to come off and re-done im so annoyed as i payed alot of money to have them replaced :cry:

I need new front and rear valances, So if anybody has any they would be so kind to sell to me that would be super.

We do front and rear valences as well as full panels front and rear

That makes my resto look like an oil service lol! Nice one and good luck with it!

Just bought some New front and rear pannels off www.golfmk1.co.uk along with an entire new lock set as i forgot to pick up the keys when i got the car (dumbass). Then the seller stoped talking to me. hmmm
Didnt have a boot lock or one of the handles anyway.
and a new petrol cap. For ?302.25

Also today i have been getting rid of the wax oil on one of my front inner wings (took so long i only got round 2 doing one.

So alot of time, wire wheel action and white spirt later


Then some primer to finish the job


Took me like 4 hours.
Other side 2moro.

Built up your locks today - just waiting for new stock of front panels - should be here tomorrow and I'll get your stuff packed and despatched.

Yeah i know, I was expecting abit. but there was none.

If my inner wings look half as good as that when i tackle them i'll be a happy man

Bought some new wings from TSR Performance the other day.
?80 for the both.

Spending alot of money.

I was bored today so i cleaned up my grill and bought some new headlight surrounds because one was cracked and sprayed up my trim and badge.
Looking pritty mint i thinks.
hung it on my wall till it comes to the time of fitting it to the car.

If you look at at the picture of the intieior of the shell on the first post on this forum. there is a number 61 or 67 writen on the dash.
Anybody got any idea what that is?
Pure curiosity.

Just finished cutting out the front and rear pannels because they wer rotten.

Was a much funner job than sanding and wire brushing all the rust off the bodywork.
Just cut it off. lol

Just need to blag a welder now so i can weld the new pannels on.
Any offers?

One of my bloody axle stands snaped last night!!
And the golf came tumbling down.
Havnt seen if theres any damage yet, as havnt had time to go over my dads.

Hang on in there, you know it will be worth it when ur rolling in ur mk1 8)

I acctually havnt been out to do anything to it in ages.
I realy should.
But i need to get underneith it to sort it out.
I know one of the bolts to hold the rear beam onto the chassis has sheerd off. (I didnt do that)
How would i go about welding a new one on? Would it be safe?
