project newquay

hi there, just wondering why u chose the audi 80 3a engine for the conversion?
i have a 89 gti cabrio with knackered valves and stuff and was looking to do the same transplant 2.0 webbers/dellorto etc… however i have been pointed in the dircetion of a "ABK" engine that is used on both the 100 and 80 also most 2.0 golf's up to the year 2000 is this a bad idea? would the gear box etc… still fit?  any help would be gratefull
