Removing injector seats? Inserts? what they called lol
Ok found two of the plastic type cups the seals for the injectors sit into when you push them in has broken round the edge, so the seal for the injector bulges out a bit and therefore is leaking.
How do you remove them, are they pushed in ? (thinking not as they would probably pull out with injectors if that was the case) Or screwed in etc? Would like to know the proper name for em too, is is the inserts?
Gonna try get them done tomorrow on me day off if its possible and not too tricky?
SO any help would be great, thanks again, cheers Gary.

They are screwed in, you need an allen key, forgot if it's 8mm/10mm or 12mm :?, yes they are called inserts and Euro car parts list them on there site, though there are two versions and once again I forgot which version they are

Lovely, sound cool thanks.
I think the two types may be plastic and brass?
Once again, thanks. 8)

Hi if yours is a 89 cabriolet it should have a k-jet engine which uses brass injector holders with a plastic sleeve on the end.
i have loads here and about 24 brand new brass holders but no plastic sleeves
but as you say is best to take old one with you
original black plastic holders are Digifant
original brass are K-Jet
cheers

Can you remember the differences between the two plastic types you ordered from ECP? Ive just been to pick up one type which was a shorter than mine are, the ones in mine are probs 2.5" long and go pretty much to the bottom of the injector.
The ones from ECP were only about 1" deep, threads seemed wider too.
Got them to order the other type, just hoping there the right ones cos other wise im not sure where to get em from?
Cheers gaz..

Mine were the short ones and the other ones that came were as you describe and tend to cover most of the injector stem, so sounds like you've got the right ones on order

well this is the two types
Mine are obviously the crusty ones, see where they are broken…this splits the seals as they buldge out :?
So i need the longer of the two.
Did you use any sealer when refitting the inserts?
cheers again, really appreciate it.

I didnt use any sealant, they seal up well, especially with them being such a fine thread. Should make a bit of a difference to the running of the engine once they're fitted as you'll have a pretty leak free inlet , mine idled better once fitted.

well cheers for the help mate
I put them in today after getting the right ones ordered in, they didnt cure my problem though, they wont have been helping so it was worth doing anyway for the sake of a few quid.
Its getting a decent tune up tomorrow so hopefully they will sort it out or find my problem?
cheers gaz.

ahahahahhaa… car was running lke an absolute peach, miles more responsive after…
then manifold stud snapped, so replaced the manifold for a SS 4 branch, did the headgasket and broke my camshaft DOH!
car was off the road till last monday when it just got mot'd again…
caned it around all last week up to preston, leeds, down south and car hasnt skipped a beat
now off the road again because im awaiting a new hub (im always fiddling and breaking stuff)
but yep would recommend those injectors to anyone, cheaper than originals too
edit: FYI i also changed the injector seal/inserts/braided fuel hoses…

Yep, it's a 12 mm allen head.
No sealer to put them in.
The early type is the short one (Tinnys) , later type is the longer one (Cabbys).

Hi. Just replaced all 4 of mine, got them from VW, under ?3 each. They unscrew using a large allen key. Be aware, there are 2 different types of insert, long & short. Mine were short ones as per the diagram given on the computer in the VW garage, but when they ordered, (according to my engine number - DX code), the long ones arrived! They had to order older ones.
