my mk1 build up thread.

Hi,It is not illegal to drive a car with no bumpers as long as there are no sharp edges,2 Mot's and no Police hassle in two years

Speeding is like masturbation, everyone does it ,but it's not something you should record and put on the internet!!

More and more rust. I know the feeling well.  I intended to stick with my first project but a cross between the rust and the garage that I couldnt swing a cat in saw me give up on the old girl and go and buy a good shell.

Stick with it mate. You can buy a filler neck repair panel to repair that last bout of tinworm.

 :banghead:

First Golf, lots of work. I've started so I'll finish!

Don't forget to inspect the fuel tank for rust, and if in doubt flush it through before you fire it up again.

Also it'll be worth replacing the fuel filter as it may be clogged already with rust from the filler neck.

been awhile and still not done much.
i have a new inner front wing pannel and the fuel cap part to wack on when i have time but for now i have just finnished the welding underneth but to do so i have to lift the car.

abit scary

all the welding underneth is done and painted so i got to putting the new carpet in an the seats and i just need a electrican to wire up the dash and get it all working.

but i do love it from behind with the fat tyres and no bumper
i am even liking the color now

Could just be you need a linkage bush repair kit and link rods? Only a few pounds to sort
