Driving to france should I......

Oh, also, it's unlikely you'll find UK ones, so the French version (with lights tilting in opposite direction) are E1 headlights.

The connection will probably be different. I had to take the bulbs out of one set and switch them with the other, so if the UK bulb has died, you might have a few problems getting it sorted easily.

lights

Cheers for reply but looks like headlights are ok Chocoholic as i can wire the two connections together and the lights come on, but the wire I use to connect the two points gets very hot very quick.
Not sure wat to do apart from try a new switch???  :dontknow:
Tomo320 (always seems to be there in my hour of need, top bloke) is sending one via airmail to me to try, I'm hoping it works.
If not I'm lost with electrical faults :banghead:

headlights

Hello
installed new switch yesterday and lights work I'm hoping thats the end of the issue or at least to get me home on Thursday. Apart from that the mk1 has lived up to and surpassed my expectations what a lovely little car. I recommend anyone who is thiinking aboout doing a similar drive to do it.

Hi all
The mk1 is sorted one stop on the way back to calais and managed to get an earlier ferry to dover.
Lights worked fine and dandy all the way back home to south yorkshire. Cheers tomo320
