4 doors or 2?!

i really want to buy a 77' gls that iv seen but its a 5 door and thats the only thing really thats putting me off (that and the wifes disinterest) so what do you guys think about the 4 doors or 2 thing????
Its a 77' gls with all the chromey bits, 4 door 52000 on it, looks nice an original, only a couple of owners……. or would you wait for a 2 door s1?

has to be a 3 door model for me. sorry.  ops:

Wonder what the reserve is set at - looks like a reasonable motor but I'd plan on spending a bit on the body and paint tho

I like 4 doors and 2 doors for different reasons.

?460 with 5 days to go means it might get a bit ebayish.

Looks sweet and the colour, if nicely restored will look cool 4 doored.  It only really stands out in greens and reds where the doors at the back are very obvious, and if you don't like the 4 door, then this is the colour to get.

Anyone ever removed the rear door handles? just out of curiosity? (I'm already planning my tintop… :roll: )

i got a green 5 door series one gls (diesel)and its so much better than a 3 door!!  

i'm a bit biased as i do have a son but if you ask me a 5 door looks so much more retro and cool with all chrome etc than the common 3 door gti's

i think this is true. If you are going for the retro 'old skool' look then 5 doors work very well. If you are going for a little pocket rocket, or GTI then 3 door is better.

5 door for me too,i have a sprog and it makes more sense for 5 doors.

5 door for me much easier than breaking your back with a 3 door, mind you saying that i wouldn't pass a 3 door up if i was given one…

If Volkswagen made it into a 5 door then the Lord has spoken  :wink:

3 door? Bit too overdone IMHO.

5 doors is the future. 8)

Cheers guys, nice to get some opinions, i agree about the retro 5 door thing and im gona bid away unless it gets ridiculous, the reserves at 650 the guy says but at the minute the wife hates it and wants a cabby....... :evil: but i will win :evil: lol, what would you say its worth as a rough guide as there arent many round to go by?

i paid 100 for mine and spent 100 on her and she passed mot

4 doors for me. but 2 doors come a close 2nd. Buy this '77 Onzlo as it has to be saved. 4 or 2 doors , a '77 is rare !  So whats this 'something special to come' Rajan ?  Will it be making its way to Gaydon    ?

sorry but 5 doors are 2 doors to many i love 2 doors for some reason they look hard as nails but ask me again when iv got a family lol i guess my view will soon change

yeh i was always like that mate, i was forever turnin me nose up at the 4 door thing coz it was for old people!! but now iv got a nipper and another on the way!! obviously not going to be a daily driver but will come in handy for carting them round if i hav to?? i had a 4motion golf with 4 doors and i liked that a lot!!! lol, well see what happens, im havin no luck convincing the mrs up 2 now anyhow ops: she wants us to get another cabby, i bought and sold the last one and she didnt drive it!! :dontknow: the more i think about it the more i want it, i need it  

the way i c it its perfect for u a cool family car but for me well im still 17 so its gota rock dude i say get it if its cheap and rare
