I adore mk1's and am determined to get one for my first car. I recently found out how much a 1.8 cabby's insurance was, and wasn't very happy as it was near 6 grand for a 17 year old. Could I get  a cabby and put a 1.2 engine in it?

Any help would be much apreciated

Anyway back to the cars in question, either a small engined tin top or try for a 1.6 auto or manual cabby  :)

i don't know how cheap a 1.6 cabby would be insurance wise, as i am 18 and i have just got my mk1, 1.3 tintop setting me back ?1800 a year before i declared the wheels and suspension. now it is just over ?2000

i passed my test about two weeks ago and got a nice 1.1 C it cost me ?600 for the car and ?1300 insurance but i have to do my pass plus in the next 30 days since the insurance started! that was with adrian flux on my own policy! its about the best you'll find for a mk1 golf! any other is going to be ?2k+ for the year! but even if you do get a good mk1 expect things to go wrong! good luck in the search! there are a couple of 1.1 C's for sale at the moment so have a look on the for sale bit!

Anyone know how to stop bad luck?

if he says them two words again on this site auto cab, we can do him in, lol

Ah yes i detest those words there are so many chav's where i live in those wheelbarrows, but at least we know one thing you would struggle to modify one unless you just go to halfords and add another spoiler and a 12" sub, it makes the car go faster you know  :?
