My best moment is every time I flick the hood down and accelerate onto the big open road from my driveway. I * heart * my Golf.
…I second that….just can't beat driving with the hood down on a warm day (and I used to think my old tintop was good, till my first time in a cabby). After a couple of minutes I apparently ALWAYS say "This is the life!!"
Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

2000 (Mar) Passat Sport Estate 1.9 TDI (ATJ) 5 speed automatic with Tiptronic - TUG 2 (Remap and cruise control by CCC)

my best moment was firing up the 20v after the year long conversion and driving to the petrol station knowing i would run out of fuel but giving it what it deserve for causing all those skinned knuckles

For those who have tried 1/4 mile sprint, thing is yes its fun but it doesn't last long, and once you've launched, its not that challenging. Track day is loads more fun - corners, etc

They hire you a helmet if you don't have one. I think the only requirements are lenses are taped over, and there's nothing loose in the car. When I went, I took a basket with tools, 4x wheels/tyres to swap, spare+jack, and an overnight bag. I dumped this lot in the garage and I was fine.
well then it must be time for a mk1oc track day meet
wheres the best track and where is it

I've asked a number of times and nobody's ever shown any interest. So I'm just going to do it on my own, or something.

I tried and tried, posted in several sections. Everyone's scared of breakign their cars, rov716y said can he come in his diesel astra. etc etc
well if you break it you fix it
its not like you would have to push your car to the limit is it
its all in the aid of fun i for one would be up for it
they do the track days on cgti but it all seems a bit to proffesional for me i like to poodle around in my floppie
