All I can say is that either all of the "Rabbits" had power steering in the US or it is mainly driven by butch ladies.
I think that "cute and girly" have been misconstrued for an attractive car that in my opinion is still one of the best takes of any soft top version of a tintop.
I have had male friends that have has TT floppies and mgf's so my car is definatley manly by those standards.
It is after all is said and done a MK 1 GOLF

I don't see why removing the roof of a car suddenly makes it girly. I sit there in the summer incredibly cool and people with hard tops are boiling…bad luck.

They both have equal appeal to me, the tin top as its "the original" the floppy top as its "the original cabrio" with a few extras or "lesses" as obviously has no roof!
personally i love both types and have had 3 tin tops and 2 floppys, cant say i prefer one over the other, but on the odd occasion this wonderfull land is bathed in sunshine its nice to have the top down which is a bonus in my book, i totally agree its one of the best cabrio versions of any original car thats been "tin opened" as it just looks "right" and loses nothing in shape or style as very little is different in appearance, oh and its one less panel to polish
