hi there, firstly, nice work. i love those smooth engine bays. and secondly a question if i may, what did you use to  remove the paint and sealer from the bay?

Used mainly a selection of wire wheels on the angle grinder also used various flap discs and painstripper at some point

NO not a chance i'm touching that part.

I'm on the lookout for a local panelbeater/old timer who will have the old skills to do the job.

Looking at it it doesn't look a bad job to do but you get one chance with these things

didnt realise you were going so hardcore as to replace the roofskin aswell paul,  so this a long term refresh then???

Yes mate the outer lip on the roofskin inbetween the rear 1/4 panel and roof has rotted through so I needed a new roof anyway.

Just doing what i can in my spare time at the moment.

Well done - can I ask what exhaust manifold you used, which gearbox and whats that massive intercooler off, keep up the good work.

I run a mk2 scirocco scala 020 gearbox with nothing else but the diff pins changed for a bolt kit.
Manifold was off ebay but they don't sell them anymore has been modified quite a bit aswell.
Intercooler is off a VW T5 van(same as merc sprinter)

Got the bay painted today and a couple of coates of laquer on there.I'm going to give it 4 or 5 more coates but here are a few picks.

The bodywork is fine mate.
Just need to put the new roof on io have found someone that is capable so once the engine is back in i can take it to them to have it fitted

Few shots of the engine in all running again now started 1st turn which was a relief after making my own loom
still need to find a airfilter i like for the charger but nearly there.
