My resto, lahzer green campaign!

Right then, engine in, power on, fuel in (various leaks found)………………………turned car over……………..and it does not work!

Don't think fuel pressure is opening the injectors, hey ho!

Still chuffed to bits though, almost alive in 5 years!

Well I have done no work on my golf for getting on a year!
But now it full throttle to get it ready for it's MOT (first in 7 years) in March 2010.
It runs now, eventually traced starting problem to a poor earth on the main block. I think the fresh paint was insulating the earth path, I used a big cable from the rocker cover to the neg terminal and it ran for the first time in years!

After a good warm up it didn't require the extra earth again, bonus!

A long way to go yet though.

Well its been a while, but I have put some more hours into the golf.

Now running, brakes working, lights working, some interior in, glass in………………..and nearly MOT time!

Thanks for your comments, my car is not show standard by a long way. But that was never my aim.
I only wanted a tidy car i could use and drive.
Plans are a trip to Brooklands, Wolfsburg and the Nurburgring. Oh and a few track days and just generally use it now and again for the run up into the dales.

The paint code is LA6V

I have also taken a photo diary as I have gone along, I have just printed 180 photos through snapfish! Its good to look back to see what i have gone through. Its worth doing.

Looks lovely - done a good job.
Having gone back through the thread you mention you were/are in Otley.
I'm just up the road in Ilkley and am trying to get my 83 Gti restored - you think your's has been a long project - I think I stripped the car in 2000!
Would love to take a look at what you've done - and pick your brains as well!

Again - cracking job!

Jason

My rebuild thread I will try and keep up to date: here
