How well do you know your VW Dealer?

My local dealer is ace and really helpful. I always get 10% discount as I'm well known in there. I tend to pop in every couple of months for something. Was in there last week for a few bits.

Some genuine parts are so much better than repro ones. Rubber exhaust mounts always seem to perish in no time and fail from GSF, ECP and from the local motorfactors. VW ones last for ages!

LOL, its ok no worries. I think they come in for more stick than they deserve. Can't really compare a secondhand Clipper kit from a scrappy with new….

I avoid the local vw garage like the plague cause i cant afford their rip off prices   + learning about the buissness side of the automotive industry as well as the mechanics i have already learnt of lots of ways that they screw customers out of money.

I would say that most of the common parts like filters, plugs and oil etc are pretty good value
I always insist on geniue filters for oil etc.
I agree if you meant the prices for servicing the cars, this is now become crazy at nearly ?60 an hour

my local vw place isnt actualy a proper franchise, but a big specialist and have been for some years now, so get all OEM bits, all top lads and dead helpfull, one of them used to work for gsf, so if he knows i could get bits cheaper (but of suitable qulity) he will order them from other places, rather than through vw,   proper top place, would be lost with out it

I used to work for my local dealers   in the parts dept 8) , still got some good mates there and mechanics! which comes in handy, usually get 25%  off most parts so i am a pretty frequent visitor! i try and only buy genuine stuff tbh but its hard to get some "new" mk1 bits as we all know!
