R.I.P. VBU 59X been in an accident.
Was on my way to work yesterday morning bout 8.30 up Boothferry Road and i got T-Boned by an old women in a vw bora. Its fair to say im gutted and pretty pissed off. I didnt come of badly just aShe spun me around nearly taking a little kid on a bike out, before coming to a stop on my own wheel. bit stiff in the old back.
My cars totally fubar. Basically both rear wheels have been snapped off by the shunt, my chassis been twisted, the roofs been twisted, the floorpan is bend upwards. The doors wont open properly and the whole passengers side is gauged out.
Ive been given a smart car 4+4 courtesy car and went up to Gilberdyke to where she'd been recovered too. Also just to kick me in the balls i got a puncture in the smart car!!!!!!! But the mk1 looked even worse when i got ther and looks like not alot is salvagable.
The female driver was hysterical bless her so kept giving her big hugs as there was no point getting angry. Police sported everything and the womens insurance company have taken all responsilbility.
So all i need now really is the money to go searching for another mk1 as its in my blood now.
The only slightly funny thing is that im going to possibly appear on Traffics Cops the show that's shown on Itv lol.
After the crash a traffic car pulled up and a guy with a camera just appeared asked if i minded him filming and i said no. Shame i forgot to mention VW though. BUt he asked loadsa questions bout my car tho on film.
Ill try and gets some pics up asap, but it aint pretty.
Cheers JJ

Hope you get a tidy sum for her… Did you have it insured with an agreed value? The certificate you get can help get you a better pay out from the other drivers ins company I think, though you are supposed to be compensated with an amount that can get you back to the position you were in before, which should mean market value for your car, not book value.

Dont let the insurance company keep the car.. you say you will dispose of it… that way you can sell any bits off it!! (interior!)

Seriously though, I'm glad that you're ok and in a position to get another mk1 without too much insurance hassle. Definitely try and get the car back, there must still be a few hundred quid in parts you could strip.

It's always worse when you go and look at the car after the event, when it happens you always seem to think 'it's not that bad..'.
Good luck finding a new one.
On the point of parts - would be interested in some, need a bonnet and rear window (I probably need more than that, buit I don't want to get ahead of myself) so if you do decide to keep it and break it, I'd be interested!

On a lighter more vulcher-like note, would you happen to be selling the wing mirrors and maybe even a large section of the roof skin?

speaking as part of the female crew … that comment is ?#"
women are statistically safer slower drivers and cause less road accidents
also why do we pay less for insurance.. my mum has 19yrs no claims
i have never crashed in 6 yrs of driving but ive had 3 cars a fiesta , r5 gt turbo , and a z3 all ritten off by blokes smasing into me .
ohhh BOY (not girl) racers got to love um lmao…
Tbh i dont think it matters what gender you are , more how well you can drive and how long youve been driving for .
accidents happen and its great all round that noone was hurt in anyway except of course …. the dub *weeps* R.I.P

I cover about 4 times the annual mileage that my wife does (bear in mind she works 8 miles away and i work 1 mile away). When we go out as a family - say to my parents in Norfolk, or away in the caravan or in to town for a shopping trip, guess who does the driving. Therefore i'm more likely to have an accident than she because i'm driving more than she is
So how come i've got 15 years no claims on my car (the length of time i've been driving) and 6 years no claims on my bike (the length of time i've been riding) and a perfectly clean unabused license, yet she has only 5 years NCB (been driving 16 years) and has had the odd SP30 endorsement…
Lack of practice is what i say…
Not wishing to start an argument - i'm only putting my theory across on why men are 'statistically' more likely to have an accident than girls… and i know it won't apply in all cases. And i'm not saying i'm a good driver - more likely a lucky one…
