hey all been ages again, well after "alot" of hassle with the FSI engine i have decided to scrap that idea and stick to the good ald 9a conversion.

heres whats been going on.

thats all for the time being folks, next is to paint the block and gearbox and start assembly.  :mrgreen:

All looks eerily familiar to me! You do realise, you're probably going to have to remove the engine again, to route the fuel lines? Also, what have you done about the clutch? Did you use the trick of fitting a 16V pressure plate with an 8V friction disc? And, which exhaist are you going to be running?

Engine is only in to check mounts and position, will be coming out again to be painted, as for the clutch / flywheel setup i havent thought about it yet, and the exhaust is going to be a custom jobbie downpipe, to give clearence for the steering rack, mated to the original centre and rear box.

not a big update just pulled engine back out of the bay and painted, few layers of zinc primer then engine enamel. Am going to get the gearbox sand blasted as theres too many akward areas on it, then paint it, new bolts have also been ordered as well as a full gasket set. Engine is not in for final upfit, just checking fitment.



















MK1 airbox has been modified and now sits perfect on the drivers side, need t get hold a mk2 metering head, cracked mine, anyone got one?

Why did you bin the FSI idea ? What did you do with the engine ?

well after getting the mounts sorted the wiring and management proved to be a pain, no support or info available, spent ages reading the technical documents that i have   . I have still got the engine for maybe a future project but if any1 is interested i am willing to sell it.

not sure yet as had a few quotes for spray job  inside, outside and bay including a small rear arch repair for around 3500, not bad but is too much for me to afford at the mo. so decided to get the car running for the time being.
