MK1 TDI?

it's my dream car to build a 130hp diesel mk1 perfect for uni cruising and so cheap to run :D

does anyone know if you need the keys for an engine with ecu and everything….. does the ecu have a built in immobiliser ?

Look in Autotrader in the breakers section , if there is a mention of "NO" keys with a mk4 the price drops by ????? instantly . I would think its possible to drop a TDI in a MK1 but i would bet it would be very expensive .

i think i could do all the work myself with my dad shouldn't be a problem with that or wiring as i used to work doing motorsport wiring

i take it the keys are the only thing that's a must then ?

bit of a bugger that is :( unless vw can program a set given the ecu number ?

when I was last at my local dealer someone needed a new key for they're passat, think the guy in parts said it was something like ?45 but they needed the car in to prgoram the key in… might be worth a trip to your local dealer and have a chat with someone about it for future reference
