So it does, obviously didn't look hard enough.

It looks different to the 16v one, but i'll have a look tomorrow.

I've been told the Scirrocco's have the same rig as this so maybe i can find a pump of a Scirrocco.

Is there a Scirrocco forum?

Sorry, I also meant to say that it's not exactly where you would really expect it - I'd already found it ages ago and saved it.

Today I removed the tank from my Cab GTI and compared it to the tank from my clipper,(side by side). The tanks look the same except for the sender unit. This could be why Euro car parts only list 1 part.

The swirl pot is clipped on externally to the side of the tank.
part no. 533 210511A with 2 pipes running to the sender and 2 pipes running to the engine.

So my guess is you can use the tank from the carb but you need the GTI sender with pump and the swirl pot then the standard GTI external pump etc.
