needs another polish as there's a few flat spots around the edges but I'm happy with it..
got a confession to, all I've been using to get it nice and shiney after spraying is some very soapy 1200grit, T-Cut and the world's BEST polish!.. next up, driver's door

Been busy yesterday to, here's what i managed to do
not bad considerng I had to strip the door and sand it down (everything done by hand to!)
closeup of wing
closeup of door
not bad for a days work! If I get left alone this weekend I hope to have the rest sprayed.
What does everyone think?

I would be very proud of what you have achieved. Bet you can't wait till it's back in one piece and on the road!

When they are finished I feel it really increases your confidence in using the car and not being afraid to "damage" it. Knowing that you know every little bit inside out and that there is nothing you can't repair gives you that little bit more confidence - particularly when out on the track.
Its not an attitude that comes overnight mind you - only comes in once you have picked up your first dent/scratch/stone chip.

Well… another weekend and another load of spraying! here's how I got on, got the passenger's door to sort out and spray and underseal all the hidden areas, get it running and tidy the interior then it'll be MOT time
Excuse the picture quality, they just weren't happening for me!
for those of you thinking about pattern wings.. don't bother if you can help it, after a long time messing around this is what I got it to fit like, and the bonnet needs adjusting as it sits about 2-3mm too far forward!
haven't taken a picture of the passenger side wing etc. yet, thought I'd wait for the door!
wanted to fit the grille but need to tidy up the red trim!
I recon I should have it on the road in a month (if all goes well) and should be able to make it to the Meet on the 28th august!

worked out how much I've spent so far on it, as it stands, not including buying the welder, compressor and spray gun… I've spent ?1370 on it!
think I'm definately going to invest in a bigger compressor, dual action sander and a mop for the next project  either another Mk1 or i'm thinking something V8…

I've got my resotoration starting on Friday.
24 days holiday to get her stripped, prepped, sprayed, new engine fitted and MOT! 8O
Mission impossible 8)?
Wish me luck!
I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday
