*** Time to choose a club Logo ***

Just a rough preview needs tidying up.

What are peoples thoughts?

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D

Quick work, and not bad at all  .

I have to be honest though and say the reason I prefer the likes of logo's like D is that it covers the majority of the types of Mk1 and is not too focussed on the tintop GTi….

Thats just my opinion though - look forward to seeing the final version.

Cheers,

Chris

ex '83 Mk1 Golf GTi Campaign owner and missing it already!

I voted for E because I have a mk1 golf and its a picture of a mk1 golf Simple really but I guess those with cabriolets, pick ups or jetta's might feel left out.
Lakesk8 has a good idea but I'd sack the model.

mk1 silver campaign totally standard lowered on coilovers magic tree vanilla

Mee too - Go with that idea, it's nice and simple.
You can have the tin top gti as the main club logo, but any merchandise could be sold with a choice of silouhettes…

Put me down for a "Gti tin top" hoodie!

Most of these images I found too modern! Imagine an owners club sticker on your car! I think that the logo should be in keeping with the period of the vehicle! Multiple colours I think cheapen the look! My first choice would be "B" my second "E" I feel these will stand the test of time better than the others! Less in your face!

idea for logo

has nobody thought of basing it on the 'Wolfsburg edition' logo? just a thought…

No doubt VW have a copyright on the Wolfsburg logo. The "Wolfsburg Edition" was just a Special Edition Mk2 sold on the continent but the name seems to have been ripped off and put on little chrome bits flogged to the public as a brand.

Also Wolfsburg means Beetles, Mk2s, Mk3s…too, not just specific to Mk1.

Just having a look through all the feedback here and some good points raised.

I think 'D' works well as a:

Car Sticker (rear),
Headed notepaper, correspondance etc
Might work as a cup, teashirt with a bit of modification (move the text below the cars and make it squarer)

But 'E' works easier in more forms like cups, teashirts and tax disk holders etc and is nice and bold, (love the model…. er….well… you know what I mean  8O  8) ) plus being totally monochrome has the advantage of easy and cheap reproduction and is more eye catching at long range.

Perhaps we could use the 'tintop' version as the main 'badge' and give the option of the others types as accessories for owners. when they want teashirts, mugs keyrings, stickers etc…?

I'll upload a modified version of 'D' shortly. Perhaps we can view this poll as a 'semi final' to get the front runners into place and have another vote… :y:

Cheers,

Drew.

I like E and S the best, but they all seemed like fine efforts.

Yep, I like those! Perhaps you could do all the Campaign colours!! Seriously tho, I like these and the idea of Drew (?) of using these for mugs, t-shirts etc and logo D for letterhead, car stickers etc.

that said, this one of yours would make a good tax disc holder 8)

These look great.

My only reservations are that the text should always be 'The Mk1 Golf Owners' Club'  regardless of the graphic (brand identity and all that)…. and we aren't covering Jetta's!

Drew.
