Amazing detail on this project and amazing results - well done - can't wait to see the car completed. Makes me feel bad for not working on my old skool car!

Dont worry haven't forgot the project - just not getting a lot of time atm - the tank in the picture which i got renued isn't going back in - i told them not to shutz the outside but they did and i went to put it in last sat and i noticed it was rusting under the shutz on the outside surface (and this is sitting indoors 8O ) i guess they never rust primed the steel before putting that muck on it)- so i sourced a very low mile carb tank ?20 which is mint and still has a fresh factory look inside! so saturday now consists of resisting efforts to coax me to the shops for christmas shopping and buffing the outside of the tank zinc'ing it and putting a few coats of gloss and laquer on it - it will look miles better than that old rough shutzy finish in the pics there…
at the minute i have the brake mech installed and all new cunifer lines - disks and pads should be here today and then over Christmas hols i should get her on here NEW RIMS 8) then i'll take a load of pics! wife says no more spending till end of Jan :dontknow: r u 4 real! better agree though….. black eyes and all that…

Made stands for the car ? which as you can see are out of box section with smaller sections to make like a telescopic thing and its held to the car with old bumper brackets welded to the box section ? on the other movable jig/frame you couldn?t fit axle/w?bones etc as the jig was fixed to those points on the floor pan.
Then got the brake mechanism fitted and me and my brother run the lines in ? (haven?t nipped up connectors yet incase something needs altered)
Ran just two lines from the master cylinder and blanked the other two off to have less clearance problems with clearing the distributor. There were actually two holes already drilled in the base that the servo bolts too which were just right to bolt the T-pieces to, then ran the lines to the four corners and put one brake light switch on the front passenger circuit. Used Kunifer lines ? they don?t go green like copper or rust like the steel ones and are very strong. Just bent the curves in them by putting a socket in the vice and bending the line round the socket ? small bends small socket bigger bends use a bigger socket
so that?s the brakes done basically just need to nip up the fittings etc?
Then at the weekend past there I started on another petrol tank ? the other one in the pics from ages ago was done with a renew service ? but I told them not to shutz the outside which they did L that was like early 2005 so when I went to fit it a week ago ? I noticed rusty streaks on the outside and I buffed off a bit of the shutz and found it was rusting on the outside badly(and it was stored in doors!) so they obviously didn?t rust proof the steal before shutzin it so it would have looked pants against all the other shiney parts.
Got a real good low mileage tank from ?20 which was as new on the inside (where it counts) and I wanted to clean it up on the outside?
Some nitromors ? great stuff
Then washed it off with thinners ? you see some pitting in it in the mid section ? I buffed this rust out
Then I zinc?d the outside and its now dry and ready to etch prime and spray on some gloss black and lacquer ? which will be done some night this week?
Will hopefully be on its wheels over Christmas and I?ll update with pics in New Year!
some parts prep'd and waiting to go on.

The colour is BMW Sterling Grey i loved that colour in the big 5 series and in the X5's and it suits the black plastic trim too - X5 has black trim so it was easy to tell if the colour would suit the plastic bumpers etc - but also it goes nice with chrome as the 5 series had chrome hanles etc!
Master Cylinder is 16v golf item 22mm - euro car parts servo is 9" of a golf too…
cheers for comments guys more updates soon!
