Who daily drives a mk1?

Nice MK2 GTD, I'm jealous.

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Thanks guys  , yes and its 'as new' inside and I am really lucky to own it!

Apologies if i highjacked the original post asking: do we use our Mk1's as a daily? but it seems like me, Mk1 owners also have a love of Mk2's too! and I couldn't resist following on from the other great pics of the Mk1 successor.

Daytona no worries, I also asked what cars people had for daily duties if they didn't daily a mk1 so not hijacking the post at all.

Mu current daily, basically a mk4 gti but nicer In my opinion. IMG_20210912_131405_525.jpg IMG_20210912_131405_685.jpg

Agreed it's cool to hear the stories and see what people are driving. When summer comes around I'll get my mk1 cab back on the road for those few days of sun we get in the north of england ho ho.

It's not perfect but it's a runner and it gets used. I got the seats from a Scirocco and had a local furniture upholstery place use the fabric from the rear to recover the cab rear seats. Not a perfect job but cheaper than a 'proper' automotive place and I really like the colourful check fabric.

I installed a rear seatbelt kit from crazyquiff and now the littlun can enjoy a ride in her baby seat (when she's not sat in the driver seat 'driving'.

Also it's handy for transporting bulky things ;)

Why not the mk2. Cabriolet starts and moves under it's own steam metering head volumes to sort new wishbones discs

You'll easily have that done by the time the weather improves. Its horrible at the moment. There was more river than road here yesterday.

I drive my Mk1 diesel from '82 daily. Only when there is salt on the road I use my other car, a mk7.5 gti D60C3113-E15B-4594-B15E-596E8BA1EDE1.jpeg 2C764954-F93F-49D3-A3CD-A0B018A07AF2.jpeg

The best of both worlds! enjoy.

Czy that's tidy looking mk1 👍 presumably the 7.5 gets used by another family member? My mk1 has been sorn off the road (briefly hopefully) but now my daily needs insurance and Mrs car needs mot and a service 🙄. Hopefully I'll be able to afford to re tax the golf (and fix it) in the not too distant future
