Overspray on the top mount too. I hope no one blindly buys it for this money not knowing what lurks beneath!

It would be interesting to know how many
never welded and original paintwork Mk1 Gti tin tops
are left out there, if there are any I assume  they would command
a very high price.
I have one.
Needs welding though.

Ok now I know better than anyone that GAP is over for this season but you've just got to look at this advert I just stumbled across.

https://www.willhaben.at/iad/gebrauchtwagen/auto/vw-golf-1-cabrio-rabbit-155-249800764/

Well when I saw the price I was naturally expecting something very special indeed and thought it was worthy of closer investigation.

Firstly I looked at the 3 photos (we should be not shocked by only 3 ) but well let's say that they didn't float my boat. In fact in this case my boat is still in dry dock but then.

Still holding on to a glimmer of hope I read the write up and here's what it said.

"DESCRIPTION

* Oldtimer in top condition

* Pickerl (MOT) and service made recently

* all original parts

* Karmanverbau -  means simply 'Karmann, he can't even spell it correctly

* Subwoofer

CD player

Radio"

Well I nearly fell off my bar stool when I did a double take at the price (having a quick one while my wife is buying some new clothes, well you know. It's rude not to) pissing myself with laughter I can tell you.

If he even gets 10k for that it will mean I've got to stand firm on at least 15k for mine! ;)

Simply insane. :thumbs:

For that much I would want the front spoiler fitted, the rear wiper parked in the right place, the drivers seat looks rather saggy and possibly new foam needed, scuttle cover missing, door speaker cover missing and why is the seat belt left on the drivers seat?

Is it me or does the drivers side front wing look a different colour?

No paper work or history as it's lost.. only stuff from 3 years ago….

Lets see what they get for it…  :dry:

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

full engine out respray too - forgot to cover the bonnet catch did they? jeez… the VIN plate looks a copy, blank hole for the stereo! cassette holder parts missing & the other bits mentioned above… For that money i'd be expected something original - not resprayed & in almost mint condition - look at the inner wings & the bay, that isn't a good paint job, that area should be smooth, the doors sills look dirty as well… £25k for a resto basically, engine rebuilt & body resprayed??? knock £10k off i think personally.. quite easy.

-another tintop on ebay… 'great looking and very original car'  next line - 'Restored some years ago and still looks and drives great'  - such disparity :dry:

Dean don't hold back mate, say what you feel! ;)

Let's be honest it's a pig in many ways when you relate it to the price.

So all this animal needs is the 'lead aspirin'.
You provide the lead pill medicine and I'll provide the 'Glock' syringe. ;)

It's just had it's price dropped by 9k.

And it's still 11k too much if you ask me.
